KVK Reasi organises Field Day on wheat crop

Jammu, Apr 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised the field day on wheat crop here today at Kheral village in Reasi district of J&K which was attended by a number of women farmers of the area.The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N.Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J.KVK has laid Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on wheat crop in the area and farmers are guided to adopt the improved agricultural technologies.The programme was initiated by Chief Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal with the warm welcome of the participants. He briefed the importance of field day on wheat crop in the village and its impact on the adjoining villages.
He highlighted the high yielding varieties of wheat crop for the area and added that the farmers should adopt modern technologies in their fields so that they can enhance their crops production and productivity. He spoke in detail on Integrated Nutrient Management(INM) and Integrated Weed Management(IWM) in wheat crop. He discussed on the remedial measures of different diseases in wheat crop and stressed on their timely management to fetch more farm returns. He discussed on certain high yielding and disease resistant varieties of wheat for the area.He also discussed on the climate resilient agriculture and stressed on the timely weed management in wheat crop so as to get good results.He further narrated the control measures of rodents and termite in the wheat crop. He guided farmers on soil health management and also highlighted eco-friendly technologies. On field results of wheat crop were also demonstrated to the participants and they were satisfied after observing the results of demonstrated technologies. In this programme farmers asked some quarries regarding the scientific wheat cultivation which were answered by the scientist in a satisfactorily way. In this programme the beneficiaries shared their experiences about the Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on wheat crop laid by KVK Reasi and appreciated the efforts of KVK to disseminate the new agricultural technologies in the area. The programme was also attended by the progressive woman farmer of the area,Smt.Mamta Devi.The programme was assisted by Sh.Manohar Lal and concluded by Smt.Mamta Devi with formal vote of thanks.
