| Parties urging electorate to come out in large numbers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr18- Ahead of the second round of polling on April 23 the election campaign is entering into its last leg with all the political parties making all out efforts to woo disenchanted voter to beat low voter turnout. In the first phase average 49 percent voters exercised their right to franchise 20 per cent less than the total voter turn out witnessed during recently concluded assembly polls. The star campaigners of all the political parties and contesting candidates are making fervent appeals to the voter population to step out of their houses to elect their public representative. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday herself stepped down in the campaign trail from Udhampur-Doda constituency and urged electorate to vote PDP candidate in large number. Similarly BJP candidate Dr Nirmal Singh is touring the constituency and exposing tall claims of development of the Congress-NC and Cong- PDP governments in the state. In his campaign meetings he is attracting local youth promising them better remuneration and other facilities which will enable them find jobs. Panther Party candidate Prof Bhim Singh is taking advantage of the infighting within the Congress and the BJP to consolidate its position in the area. BSP candidate Rakesh Wazir is also not leaving any stone unturned to consolidate his position in the constituency.
