| GDC Plaoura celebrates Baisakhi with great fervor | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 11: Department of Music in collaboration with NCC Girls wing of the college celebrated Baisakhi with great fervor and gaiety. The college campus turned into a carnival of dance and music bonanza as 'Baisakhi Mahotsav 2025' drew a heavy crowd with stalls and presentation of traditional items relating to the rich culture of Jammu and Punjab were on display.
In the beginning of the function, students of the College resorted to impressive show of talent during various breathtaking performances. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Kulvinder Kour, Principal of the College was chief guest of the colorful function.
While applauding the efforts of department of music headed by Dr. Chinmei Sharma in organising the event, She wished all a happy and cheerful Baisakhi and briefed the audience about the festival of harvest and acquainted them with rich cultural heritage. She also reminded the audience of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar.
The faculty and students of the college were decked up in large numbers to witness the event. On this occasion, the girl students performed Bhangra, Gidda and Folk dance. The beats of the dhol brought vibrancy to the environment. NCC girls mesmerised the audience with a beautiful traditional Punjabi couple dance, Bhangra and Gidda.
Miss Janshi and Miss Komal both students of semester 4th conducted the proceedings of the event. The colourful event concluded with a formal vote of thanks Dr Chinmei Sharma, Head, Department of Music. |
