RS PURA, Apr 11: In a heartfelt tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the eve of his birth anniversary, the Drug De-Addiction Committee, in collaboration with the NSS unit of Government Degree College, R.S. Pura, organized a Drug-Free India Pledge Ceremony to reaffirm the institution's commitment towards building a society free from substance abuse.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and NSS volunteers, all gathered with a shared resolve to uphold the values of social justice and moral responsibility advocated by Dr. Ambedkar. The pledge-taking ceremony was led by Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of the college, who invoked the visionary ideals of Dr. Ambedkar and highlighted the growing concern of drug addiction among the youth.
In her address, Dr. Kour stated, "Dr. Ambedkar dreamed of an empowered and enlightened India. A drug-free society is not just a social goal but a moral duty we owe to the future of our nation." She emphasized the critical role of education in spreading awareness and developing resilience against such societal challenges.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Neelam Kumari, Convener of the Drug De-Addiction Committee, and co-coordinated by Dr. Hari Singh, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, and Dr. Savleen Kour, members of the NSS Committee. Other faculty members including Dr. Sudesh Kumar, Dr. Jugal Kishore, Prof. Geetika Goswami, and Prof. Rajinder Singh also attended and contributed to the success of the program.
The ceremony concluded with a collective vow by all attendees to raise awareness, support rehabilitation initiatives, and actively discourage substance abuse within their communities. Pura to commemorate Ambedkar Jayanti and promote the values of empowerment, reform, and social responsibility championed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
