| Nijhawan selected for National School of Drama | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU| JULY 13 Natrang Jammu achieved yet another distinction with the selection of a Natrang actor Ashish Nijhawan in Asia’s highly acclaimed theatre Institution, National School of Drama, New Delhi. Ashish Nijhawan will undergo a three year postgraduate course in Dramatics and wish to specialize in Acting. He is the fourth artist of Natrang who has achieved this distinction. National School of Drama is the only professional theatre Institution of the country and has produced best of the actors, and designers of theatre, television and film world. Earlier Harish Khanna, Neelu Dogra and Bahnu Goswami (Aryan Special squad – a star one production fame) made Natrang proud by achieving this rare honour. Ashish Nijhawan worked fro many plays in Natrang including,’ Shayad Kal Naa Ho, Rakt- Beej, Bawa Jitto, Sainya Bhaye Kotwal and Eh Jammu Eh’. Recently he assisted Balwant Thakur in the National theatre workshop Kullu, organized by Department of Culture, Govt of India and Language and Culture department Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. Complementing Ashish Nijhawan, Natrang director Balwant Thakur said that his selection to the most prestigious theatre will serve as matter of inspiration to many enthusiasts of the art of acting and theatre. Natrang’s professional training has to produced lot many successful actors and directors and Ashish Nijhawan after completing his course will strengthen Natrang’s faculty which is working day and night to establish Natrang the ultimate of theatre in the country.
