| EJAC accuses govt. of betrayal, to meet on April 20

Jammu, Apr18: The trouble for the coalition government in Jammu and
Kashmir does not seems to be over even after it published the circular
regarding implementation of sixth pay commission report as the
employees seem to be again on a war path accusing government of
deliberately dropping the recommendations of Hasib Drabu and SL Bhat
committees.
It was reliably learnt that the Employees Joint Action Committee
(EJAC) has summoned an emergency meeting at Jammu on Monday, April 20
to discuss the issue and to decide on the future course of action.
Sources said that on one hand the state government employees heaved a
sigh of relief after the government issued SRO No 93 and 94 on April
15 implementing the recommendations of the sixth pay commission but on
the other hand the attitude of the government to ignore the
recommendations of SL Bhat and H Drabu committee reports has agitated
the employees.
It was reliable learnt that he employees were assured that the
government is looking into the recommendations of the two committees,
which were constituted by the government to look into the pay
anomalies. However, the SRO issued by the government came as a shock
for many as House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Medical Allowance (MA) has
not been enhanced and the pay anomalies remain there even in the
revised pay scales.
Sources claimed that the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) will
meet on April 20 at Jammu to discuss the issue with its constituents.
Though most of the employees’ leaders were of the opinion that the
EJAC shall not remain silent on the issue and instead the state wide
agitation, postponed earlier, should be revived.
When contacted, president of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC)
and senior members of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) AQ Wani
confirmed that the Committee members will meet on April 20 to discuss
the issue.
“While the issuance of SROs by the government is a welcome step, we
are deeply shocked over the government’s silence over the
implementation of SL Bhat and Haseeb Drabu committee reports”, Wani
said adding the recommendation have been ignored though the government
had earlier agreed to implement it in toto.
“We have a strong bureaucracy in the state which never wants removal
of pay anomalies among the employees”, he alleged adding, we will
expect the chief minister to reconsider the decision so that the
employees are not once again forced on the agitation path..
