Agriculture Deptt organises 'Buyer-Seller meet'

SRINAGAR, Apr 15: Agriculture Department Kashmir today organised a mega Buyer-Seller meet at India International Kashmir Saffron Trading Centre (IIKSTC) Dusoo Pampore. The program was inaugurated by member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pampore, Retd. Justice Hasnain Masoodi, who was also the chief guest at the event. Addressing the inaugural session, MLA Pampore reiterated the government's commitment for uplifting the agriculture sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the buyer-seller meet would be an important step towards boosting local agriculture, economic growth and access to the national and international markets.
Masoodi underlined the importance of collective efforts for the promotion of saffron crop in the area. He emphasized that the Pampore area holds immense potential in the saffron sector, and urged participants to fully capitalize on the opportunities in this sector to drive economic development in the region.
He underscored the importance of promoting regional products, expanding market access and contributing to the economic development of J&K. He said the buyer-seller meet would prove an important step towards boosting local agriculture business in Pampore areas.
Later, the MLA Pampore inspected the stalls established by different sellers.
Earlier, Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Sartaj Ahmad Shah highlighted the different dimensions of today's program. Later, a series of interactions were held between buyers and sellers.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, M Ilyas Khateeb; General Manager JKTPO Er., Dawood Wani; Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama, M Iqbal Khan; Information Officer, representatives from APEADA and Spice Board of India graced the occasion by their presence.
A number of buyers from different states also participated in the meet through virtual mode.
