| LS Polls 2009 | | Udhampur-Doda polls to face massive jolts of boycotts | | Salman Imtiaz Jammu,Apr 18: The main reason for the decline of voter turnout is a direct responsibility of those Politicians who made hollow slogans and false promises during the assembly elections held four months ago. Political parties including NC, PDP, Cong, and other small political groups secured votes in the name of development viz-a-viz (Bijli, Pani and Sadak), despite people elected a government though in a coalition but it failed, as per its to deliver as per its manifesto. Assembly polls were inclined with the bias of regional and religions considerations besides basic amenities were the priority of the electorates. Politicians responded well with assurances but failed to provide a sigh of relief to the common masses. That is the reason that the people of the state to caste their votes. Secondly for the people to the state it looks like a dramatic situation as just of the four months of the elections new era of election started.
“I feel cheated as during t his assembly elections we were assured road connectivity, Uninterrupted water and electric supply and making of model village to our village but it is unfortunate that even after four months government has failed to deliver as per its commitment.” Said Mukhtiar Ahmed of village Ramso Banihal. It is Ironic that instead of fulfilling their promises to the masses made during election rallies and manifestos, government is involved in vote bank politics even after four months of assembly elections. In the name of code of conduct the government and the official at the helm of affairs are best at their hire archie. The giving votes and the gaining votes is not the relation between the politicians of voters in the race course of democracy but politicians have led to be accountable to the voters. Not only in the reason of elections but after the election also. As per the reports received from Udhampur Doda constituency most of the constituencies have decided to boycott the polls in the similar pretext. The people alleged that after winning the elections of the assembly of govt was not worth to fulfill its promises how come a voter pressed that after voting Lok Sabha elections his problems and miseries would be addressed. The legislative party head of BJP Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta commenting on this subject said that though this is true that all the successive governments except NDA has desperately failed to fulfill their promises made during election period, still this is a prime duty of every electorate to come out and caste their vote for the stability of democracy. He suggested that boycott method is not an appropriate method because without electing a party it is difficult to ensure the development works in the interest of common masses across the country.
