North Zone Clinches Sr Men's & Women's Titles in National Softball Championship

SRINAGAR, Apr 16: North Zone emerged victorious in both Senior Men's and Senior Women's categories at the 10th All India Inter Zonal Softball Championship 2024-25, held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar. The prestigious event, hosted by the J&K Sports Council in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Softball Association, concluded today with Jammu & Kashmir athletes winning Gold in both sections, bringing glory to the host region.
The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Iqbal Hussain Wani, Deputy Director, Industries & Commerce, who served as the chief guest. Special guests included Dr. Pravin Anaokar, Secretary General of the Softball Association of India; Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir; Mushtaq Bashir, Managing Director of CP Advertising Company Pvt Ltd; and Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, Senior Manager, J&K Sports Council.
Athletes from across India competed in the championship, showcasing their skills and spirit in the picturesque city of Srinagar. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Iqbal Hussain Wani congratulated the J&K Softball Association for professionally organizing such a grand sporting event. He emphasized the importance of regularly hosting such tournaments with the support of the J&K Sports Council to further elevate the status of softball in the Union Territory.
Dr. Wani also lauded the efforts of the association in nurturing talent and promoting the sport among the youth of J&K. He later distributed medals and trophies to the winners, runners-up, and third-place finishers in both the men's and women's categories, encouraging them to continue their pursuit of excellence in the sport.
