| Parliamentary Elections 2009 | | DEO Udhampur convenes meeting of Zonal, Sectoral officers | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, APRIL 19 - District Election Officer (DEO), Udhampur, Mr. Ajay Khajuria today impressed upon Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates and Police Officers deployed for Lok Sabha election duty to identify trouble spots and book persons carrying or displaying arms during election days in their areas of jurisdiction to ensure free, fair and transparent polls as well as safe arrival of poll-bound staff to their respective destinations.
The DEO was addressing a joint meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates and Police Officers assigned poll duty in the three Assembly segments of Udhampur district during the ongoing Lok Sabha election, for which polling is scheduled on April 23.
Election Observer, Udhampur, Mr. K. S. S. V. P. Reddy, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mr. Gulzar Singh Slathia, SSP, Udhampur, Mr. Surinder Gupta and other senior civil and police officers were present in the meeting.
Mr. Slathia, in his address, said instructions have been issued to the police officers to be on the vigil and visit polling stations in advance to have an in-depth survey of the location.
For smooth conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in the district, 21 Zonal Magistrates and 47 Sectoral Magistrates have been appointed with an equal of Zonal and Sectoral Police Officers for Lok Sabha elections.
