KVK Reasi organises Training Programme on Organic Vegetables Production

Reasi, Apr 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) imparted training on “Organic vegetables production” here today at Kotli village in Reasi district of J&K. The programme was enthusiastically attended by a number of women farmers of the area. The programme was organised under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.BN Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. Dr.Banarsi Lal,Chief Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi warmly welcomed the participants and guided them on organic vegetables production technologies for higher profitability and sustainable production.He elaborated the benefits of organic vegetables and stressed on their commercial cultivation.
He lucidly explained the use of organic inputs required in the organic vegetables production and highlighted the advantages of organic vegetables production. He demonstrated the technique on organic vegetables nursery production and encouraged the participants for the commercial organic vegetables by which they can fetch more returns and generate employment.
He discussed in detail on on-farm resource management and gave a detailed view about the preparation of organic formulations such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, cow urine, Neemastra etc. by using the locally available inputs. He stressed on soil health management through organic farming and also suggested the organic management of insect-pests, diseases and weeds in the organic vegetables production. He said that organic vegetables production can play the significant crucial role in increasing the income of the farmers.
He stressed on the cluster based approach for organic vegetables production. He also discussed on the marketing management practices for organic vegetables. During the training programme many quarries were raised by the trainees which were answered satisfactorily by the KVK scientist.The programme was also attended by the progressive woman farmer, Smt. Pooja Devi.Participants thanked KVK Reasi for organising such a useful programme. The programme was assisted by Sh.Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal,Chief Scientist & Head of KVK Reasi with formal vote of thanks.
