Modi Govt’s policies propel J&K into tourism spotlight: Kavinder Gupta
4/17/2025 11:13:08 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 17: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, has lauded the remarkable surge in tourism witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing the upward trend to the visionary and pro-people policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
Citing official data, Gupta noted that over 5.25 lakh tourists have visited Kashmir in just the first three months and one week of 2025 alone which seems to be a clear evidence that the region is fast emerging as a global tourism hub.
Speaking at a meeting held at the BJP Headquarters in Jammu, Kavinder highlighted that this sharp rise in tourist footfall is a direct outcome of the Central Government’s continuous efforts to restore peace, promote development, and improve infrastructure in the region. “The abrogation of Article 370 proved to be a turning point,” he said, adding that the removal of the temporary provision opened new doors for investments, job creation, and infrastructural growth, significantly benefiting the tourism sector.
He emphasized the importance of flagship events like the G20 Tourism meet, Khelo India Winter Games in Gulmarg and the annual opening of the Tulip Garden in Srinagar, which have become key attractions and are drawing both domestic and international tourists in large numbers. He added that development of better road connectivity, upgraded airports, and increased air traffic has further boosted the ease of travel to the Union Territory.
Kavinder further said that the Modi Government is committed to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a vibrant economic zone, with tourism playing a pivotal role. “Tourism not only brings economic prosperity but also bridges cultural gaps, creates livelihood opportunities and strengthens national unity,” he asserted.
Looking ahead, the former deputy Chief Minister expressed optimism that Jammu and Kashmir is steadily shedding the shadows of the past and is poised to become one of India’s most sought-after tourist destinations. He reiterated the Modi government’s resolve to continue strengthening infrastructure, enhancing security, and creating a welcoming environment for tourists from across the globe.
