JAMMU, Apr 21: As part of the ongoing nationwide Poshan Pakhwada celebration, the Government Degree College (GDC) RS Pura, in collaboration with its NSS Unit and the Department of Veterinary Technology, organized a special documentary screening focused on the components of a balanced diet. The event was held under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of the college.
The documentary aimed to spread awareness about proper nutrition and healthy eating habits among students and faculty. It highlighted the vital components of a balanced diet, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water, emphasizing their role in maintaining overall health and well-being.
Over 50 students participated in the program with great enthusiasm. Following the screening, an interactive session was held, where students shared their insights and clarified doubts on topics like daily nutrition, diet planning, and making healthy lifestyle choices.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour emphasized the importance of nutritional awareness, especially among youth. "Creating awareness about nutrition at the grassroots level is key to building a healthier society, and educational institutions play a crucial role in this mission," she remarked.
The event was smoothly coordinated by Dr. Savleen Kour, Head of the Department of Veterinary Technology. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shivani Manchanda, Head of the Department of Economics.
Prominent faculty members who graced the occasion included Dr. Jugal Kishore, Dr. Hari Singh, Dr. Akriti Parihar, and Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch.
