JAMMU, Apr 21: In a significant stride towards enhancing educational practices, Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu recently conducted a two-day Capacity Building Workshop focused on Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices. The event was designed to align with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, empowering educators with innovative tools and strategies for more meaningful and competency-based assessments.
The sessions were led by two eminent educationists - Mr. Vishal Gupta, Head of the Science Department at Jammu Sanskriti School, and Ms. Meenu Gupta, Vice Principal of DPS Jammu - who served as resource persons. Both facilitators brought deep pedagogical insights and practical approaches to the sessions, ensuring a dynamic and enriching learning experience for all attendees.
The workshop aimed to foster assessment literacy among educators by introducing them to modern evaluation techniques that move beyond rote testing. It emphasized continuous, qualitative, and feedback-oriented assessment practices that support student growth and development.
In her keynote address, Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School, highlighted the evolving role of assessment in modern education. "Assessment is not just a tool to evaluate learning, but a powerful means to inspire growth, provide feedback, and foster lifelong learning. Workshops like these are instrumental in nurturing reflective practitioners who understand the value of qualitative and constructive assessment," she said.
The sessions were characterized by hands-on activities, group discussions, and interactive presentations, encouraging collaboration and critical thinking among educators from various departments. Participants praised the structure, relevance, and effectiveness of the workshop, citing its immediate applicability to classroom teaching.
