| Mufti frustrated over coalition unity | | BJP-PDP planning Jagmohan’s return, abrogation of Art 370: Farooq | | Early Times report Srinagar, April 19: Accusing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of joining hands with the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister and National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday said that BJP- and PDP had stuck a deal to bring Jagmohan back to the Valley.
“BJP and PPD have joined hands to bring Jagmohan as governor of the state. BJP wants to abolish Article 370 and PPD has promised support to them in exchange of monetary benefits,” Senior Abdullah said, while addressing a rally at Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Sunday.
“Lal Krishan Advani has given funds to PDP for their support over these issues,” he added.
NC President said that former Chief Minister and PDP, Patron, Mufti Mohammad Syed has always played divisive politics for his personal interests. He said it was none other than Mufti who created hurdles in the accord that was signed by him and late Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi in 1987.
“Mufti did everything to scuttle the accord that was signed by me and Rajiv Gandhi. Mufti was the state president of the Congress party and he is the person who brought Jagmohan as governor of the state. What Jagmohan did later, everyone is aware of it,” Abdullah said.
Claiming that the PDP Patron, Mufti Mohammad Syed was scared of the unity among the ruling coalition partners, Abdullah said that Mufti dropped the idea of contesting parliamentary elections from South Kashmir after feeling insecure with the unity of the alliance partners.
“This is for the first time that Congress leaders are speaking for the National Conference leadership. Mufti had planned to contest polls from South Kashmir but due to fear of NC-Congress unity, he fielded Peer Mohammad Hussain,” NC President said.
Lashing out at PDP patron, Abdullah said that Mufti has been claiming credit for opening Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road. He said if that would have been the case why didn’t Mufti open road links with the neighboring country china.
“If Mufti has thrown open Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, then why didn’t he open roads links with China so that we can send our products there. It is a white lie; the road was not opened by Mufti but Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Parvez Musharraf, after reaching an understanding,” NC President said.
