JAMMU, Apr 21: In a dedicated effort to combat substance abuse among youth, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ankush Hans today presided over a comprehensive drug awareness event at Government Higher Secondary School Chowki Choura. The initiative aimed to educate students about the dangers of drug use and empower them to make informed, healthy choices. The event featured interactive sessions, expert talks and engaging activities designed to highlight the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of prevention. Students and faculty participated enthusiastically, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering a drug-free environment within the school and the wider community.
Addressing the gathering, the SDM emphasized the critical role of education in preventing substance misuse and encouraged students to serve as ambassadors for positive change. The event also provided information on local resources and support systems available for those seeking help with addiction or substance-related issues.
Tehsildar Parmod Kumar, NT Narinder Kumar, Principal Sat Paul, Dr Gurmeet Kaur, Incharge Police Post Vinay Kotwal also spoke on the occasion.
This initiative reflects the administration's ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and public health, reinforcing the message that a drug-free future is possible through awareness, education, and community support.
