Yasin calls for joint efforts to cultivate lasting peace for progress
Proposes renaming of Yarikhah as Yaqoob Abad after the name of Sufi Saint

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 23 -Chairman People’s Democratic Front and Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yasin has urged the political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir State to extend their full cooperation in taking forward the peace process in the spirit of recent Havana declaration. He said efforts have been pooled to address all issues and strive for peace in the sub-continent imperative for progress and development.
Addressing a public rally today at Yarikhah in his home constituency of Khansahib, the Minister said that the people of the state are eagerly desirous of peace and initiative taken by the Prime Minister of India during his recent foreign tour has rekindled new hopes among the people.
He reiterated that ceasefire is most relevant in the backdrop of Havana meet to build confidence saying that “time is now ripe for ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir”. He emphasised to release those detainees against to whom serious charges are not leveled keeping in view the holy month of Ramdhan.
He described complete restoration of normalcy as a must for socio-economic development and prosperity of the state and said that with the people’s cooperation government is determined to restore peace.
Hakim Yasin said that coalition government will continue its mission to root out corruption and nepotism from the administration adding that “our objective is to achieve speedy development in all the regions of the state equitably”. He said government is aware of the problems confronting the people, particularly those living in remote areas and efforts are being made to provide basic amenities to the people of the state. He said government has already launched several schemes and various works under state and central programmes have been taken up in the rural areas of the state.
The Minister said that under Prime Minister Sarak Yojna three road projects costing about crores of rupees are presently under construction in Khansahib constituency whileas the government has accorded sanction for construction of three Mini Power Projects in the district adding that the step would not only boost the socio-economic profile of the people but would also provide job opportunities to hundreds of unemployed youths of the district. He said work on Integrated Watershed Development Project would be started in the Khansahib area soon adding that within next two years all the villages would be connected with the district headquarter to provide better road connectivity to the people.
Hakim Yasin announced to rename the village Yarikhah and its adjacent areas after the name of Sofi Saint Sayed Shah Yaqoob Bukhari as Yaqoob-Abad.
