Vice Chancellor's Badminton Tournament kicks off at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 21: The 3rd edition of the Vice Chancellor's Badminton Tournament 2025 was formally inaugurated by Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor at the Indoor Sports Complex, Main Campus Chatha, on April 21, 2025. While addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Prof. Tripathi expressed his happiness over the enthusiastic participation and emphasized the importance of sports in ensuring both physical and mental well-being. He lauded the efforts of the Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Students Welfare for organizing the tournament and promoting a culture of fitness and camaraderie among students and staff.
The tournament has attracted the participation of around 50-60 players, including both students and staff competing in various categories such as Men's Singles and Doubles, Women's Singles and Doubles and Mixed Doubles. To mark the occasion, the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor also played an exhibition match with one of the participants showcasing his encouragement and active involvement in student activities. He further took a round of the sports complex and reviewed the facilities including a visit to the gymnasium where he enquired about the routine fitness activities undertaken by students and staff.
The officers/ officials present during the inaugural function were Dr. Sushil K Gupta, Director Research, Dr Anil Kumar Registrar & Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Director Education, Dr. Vikas Tandon, Dean Faculty of Horticulture, Dr Sanjay Guleria Dean Faculty of Basic Sciences, Sh. Madan Lal, Comptroller, Dr. R K Salgotra, Director Institute of Biotechnology, Dr Anil Gupta Medical officer, Dr Manish Sharma HOD Statistics and Computer Science, Dr Vinod Gupta HOD Extension Education besides others. Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi Dean Student welfare under whose guidance and control the tournament is being organised conducted the inauguration function.
