Indian Red Cross Society, conducts multiple welfare activities | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 22: Under the leadership of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, who serves as the President of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir-UT, and the supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS J&K, a series of impactful humanitarian activities were carried out across the Union Territory today. Drug De-Addiction Awareness Camp at Govt. Middle School, Gandhi Nagar In an effort to combat the rising menace of drug abuse, IRCS J&K organized an awareness camp at Government Middle School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The session aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to channel their energy into positive and constructive avenues. Manjari Singh led the session, sensitizing students to the physical, mental, and legal repercussions of drug addiction. The session also highlighted support systems and resources available for individuals affected by drug use. Additionally, the Red Cross offers free consultation services at its Drug De-Addiction Centre located at Red Cross Attendant Sarai, Maheshpura Chowk, Jammu. Free Tea Distribution at GMC Jammu As part of its ongoing humanitarian outreach, the IRCS J&K continued its daily initiative of serving free tea to attendants of patients at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Jammu, and affiliated hospitals. This initiative, which provides comfort and a brief respite to hundreds of caregivers and patients, has received widespread appreciation from the beneficiaries and hospital authorities alike. Red Cross volunteers ensured smooth and hygienic distribution, demonstrating the organization's continued commitment to compassionate public service. First-Aid Training Concludes at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni An eight-day First-Aid training program concluded recently at Red Cross Bhawan, Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The training, which targeted commercial vehicle drivers and the general public, focused on critical life-saving techniques. Medical professionals including Dr. Kavita Nijhon, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, and Sh. Ravi Kant Magotra conducted practical sessions on CPR, trauma response, bleeding control, disaster management, and emergency transport. A special lecture on drug de-addiction was also delivered during the course. Participants engaged actively, receiving hands-on experience and guidance. An exam was conducted at the end of the program, and provisional certificates were issued to all successful participants. |
