Early Times Report

Bishnah, Apr 22: The Women Development Cell (WDC) in collaboration with the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) of Government Degree College (GDC), Bishnah, organized a thought-provoking awareness lecture on “Women’s Rights Against Sexual Harassment.” The program is part of the college’s continuous efforts to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and respectful academic environment for all.
The keynote speaker for the event was Adv. D.K. Singh, Senior Advocate and President of the Bar Association, Bishnah. He provided insightful perspectives on the legal rights and protections available to women under Indian law, emphasizing the importance of awareness, legal literacy, and institutional support in addressing and preventing sexual harassment. His engaging talk was well-received by both faculty and students.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Shallu Samyal, Principal of GDC Bishnah, who addressed the gathering and highlighted the vital role of educational institutions in empowering students—especially women—through education and proactive initiatives. She appreciated the efforts of WDC and CASH for organizing such a significant and timely event.
The program was convened by Prof. Anju Bala, Convenor of the CASH Committee, and Dr. Rashmi Arya, Convenor of the Women Development Cell. Both convenors stressed the importance of maintaining a harassment-free campus and called upon all stakeholders to work together in ensuring safety, equality, and dignity for all.
The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and staff, and concluded with an interactive session that allowed participants to raise concerns and ask questions, making it a valuable and engaging experience for everyone involved.
Such awareness programs play a critical role in sensitizing the academic community and strengthening institutional commitments to gender justice and equity.
