GDC Ramnagar Hosts Seminar

Ramnagar, Apr 22: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar, in collaboration with the NCC Unit and NCORD Cell, organized an impactful seminar on “Drugs, Youth and The Future”, followed by a Felicitation Programme under the esteemed patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal.
The event was graced by Hon’ble MLA Ramnagar, Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj, as the Chief Guest.
The proceedings began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Tanmeet Kour, setting an inspiring tone for the day.
In his inaugural address, Principal Prof. Anthal stressed the critical role of youth in nation-building and the urgent need to combat substance abuse. He praised the collaborative efforts of various college cells for creating awareness, fostering discipline, and celebrating student excellence.
The seminar featured nine student speakers who delivered powerful presentations on the detrimental effects of drug abuse on youth and society.
The top three positions were secured by Dalip Singh (1st), Preeti Sharma (2nd), and Arpit Bandral (3rd).
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj commended the college’s commitment to sensitizing students to social challenges. He urged youth to become change-makers and emphasized the role of educational institutions in building awareness and resilience against drug abuse.
The event transitioned into a Felicitation Ceremony, starting with the recognition of meritorious sportspersons, followed by the felicitation of NCC Cadet SUO Ravi Kumar for his commendable service. A Rank Ceremony was held for NCC Cadets, with Cadet Rishav Bandral appointed as Senior Under Officer, Cadet Rahul Kumar as Under Officer, and Cadet Sandeep Singh as Sergeant, based on a rigorous selection process. The Chief Guest and Principal had the honour of bestowing ranks upon the cadets.
Further, the college acknowledged the resource persons who conducted the Summer Internship Programme (2024–25) for their valuable contributions to student academic development.
The event concluded with a felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Principal, followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Pankaj Sharma. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, and students, making it a memorable and motivational occasion.
