Gupta voices concern over paucity of rations at Govt. Depots
4/20/2009 10:38:56 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 20-Voicing his concern over the paucity of rations at Government depots and big rise in the prices of essential commodities, the leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has ridiculed the claims of the ruling Congress leaders that they have contained the price rise and full quota of rations is being supplied to the rationees.
Responding to the reports about shooting of the prices and little availability of rations at the Government controlled shops, Prof. Gupta said that he and his colleagues had raised this matter in the State Assembly also but the Government leaders instead of rectifying the malady, tried to evade the issue by resorting to misleading statements. But the reports from not only from rural and remote areas are still pouring about the shortage of rations including the sugar, rice, wheat/atta and kerosene but also from this City itself.
Terming the UPA dispensation at the Centre as a big curse for the Indian people, the BJP leader pointed out that on one hand it was claimed big increase in the production of sugar but on the other the sugar prices during the Congress led UPA rule has been more than doubled in the open market and the levy sugar is missing at the ration depots.
Only within the past five weeks the sugar prices in the open market have marked an increase of more than fifty per cent and the sugar prices have shot up from Rs. 25 per Kg to Rs. 32 Kg. although the sugar sale is directly controlled by Government itself, he added and recalled that there was little difference in the prices of levy sugar and the sugar available in the open market during the Vajpayee led regime of NDA. And whenever, there was Congress in power they created conditions for black marketing and big rise in prices, he alleged and pointed out the similar difference of rates of rice and atta. The little availability of Kerosene is another example of bungling being committed.
Prof. Gupta appealed to the electorates that the elections provide them opportunity to punish those who are responsible for creating paucity and conditions from black-marketing as also the rise in prices, which has badly affected budget of the common man.
In another statement the BJP leader has also appealed to the voters to take note of drastic cut in the number of voters of Jammu region and big increase in the strength of voters of the Valley of Kashmir. He alleged that this was an attempt not only to keep up their regional domination but also to create wedge between the people of the two regions under a dirty scheme of things to divide and rule and to continue their hegemony. But the BJP would strive for equal rights to all the regions and justice to all the people irrespective of caste, creed or their religion.
