| Wild fire destroys wheat crop in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 20- A devastating fire destroyed huge quantity of standing wheat crop in bordering Ranbir Singh Pura area on city outskirts, police said here today.
“A mysterious fire broke out in a garbage dump last night in village Kotli Gala Bana and within minutes it spread to adjoining fields of wheat crop,’’ police sources said adding that due to winds, the flame engulfed wheat crop on around 65 kanals of land owned by around 15 farmers.
However, a message was flashed to the Fire and Emergency Services Department and several fire tenders were pressed into service. It took around 3-4 hours to douse the wild blaze.
Meanwhile, police has registered the case to ascertain the cause behind the flame.
