Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 23: In a strong expression of solidarity and grief, Senior Congress Leader Adv. Suresh Dogra led a solemn candlelight procession at Indira Chowk in Jammu East, condemning the brutal terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam Valley on April 22. The attack, which resulted in loss of innocent lives, has been widely denounced across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the participants, Adv. Dogra described the attack as a "barbaric and cowardly act" perpetrated by terrorists, emphasizing the need for immediate and effective action to ensure peace and security in the region.
"The responsibility of maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir, now a Union Territory, lies squarely with the Central Government," said Dogra. "The failure of the Modi-led NDA government in fulfilling its promises of 'Achhe Din' is evident in such tragic incidents. It is imperative that the Centre take accountability and act decisively." Dogra also reiterated his party's demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, stressing that a fully functional and autonomous state government is essential for managing regional issues effectively. "This dual-control governance model is proving ineffective. We urge the government to restore statehood to ensure proper governance and peace," he added.
The candlelight march concluded with prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. Participants also raised slogans against terrorism and Pakistan, calling for unity and resilience in the face of violence.
Adv. Dogra appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and the nation at large, to maintain communal harmony and work collectively towards peace and stability.
