| CII organizes HIV/AIDS awareness program at Bari Brahmana | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 20- Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) J&K State Council in collaboration with BBIA and J & K State AIDS Control Society organized an HIV / AIDS awareness program for the workers of Industrial Units in Bari Brahmana. The session was conducted by Dr M A Wani Project Director J & K State AIDS Control Society .The aim of the session was to sensitize the industrial workers on the dangers of HIV / AIDS and motivate them to donate healthy blood. Sanjay Puri Chairman CII J & K State Council while welcoming, Dr Wani said that the negative impact of HIV/AIDS on industries can have disastrous consequences on production and economy. He further said that since Industries are the key drivers of State’s economic growth; it is imperative that the Industry workers remain healthy and are fully aware of the dangers of HIV/AIDS and its preventive measures. Dr M A Wani in his presentation said that HIV / AIDS have become the most dreaded disease in the world which affects mostly the younger population between 15-24 years. He further said that about 16000 new infections occur all over the world per day of which 95% are in developing countries only. Dr Wani said that a trained industrial worker if affected by AIDS will lead to decrease in both quantity and quality of out put. Unfortunately this also is accompanied by stigma, loss of morale and discrimination. He exhorted the workers that an HIV AIDS effected co worker should not be discriminated upon but should be given a shoulder to lean on and be provided medical treatment. He informed the gathering that the Government is now providing free treatment to all the patients of HIV / AIDS till he is living. The awareness session was attended by over 60 industrial workers
