| Div Com interacts with refugees, listens problems | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 20 - In order to redress the demands of the refugees of 1971, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal convened a meeting with concerned officers here today. District Development Commissioner Samba Saurabh Bhagat, Director Land Management, A. A. Choudhary, General Manager, SIDCO, A. K. Koul, Assistant Development Commissioner, Kathua, D. R. Sharma, President Chhamb S. R. Nagial and other representatives of the J&K Refugees Displaced Peoples of 1971 attended the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held regarding the common demands of the Jammu and Kashmir refugees displaced peoples of 1971. The President S. R. Nagrial has put forth the demands which include payment of cash compensation in lieu of land deficiency in their allotable units of land to the left over families out of 699 whose claims have been approved by the Government of India in the year 1990, supplementary list of the initially left over families for payment of cash compensation in lieu of their allotable unit of lands to the Government of India, payment of cash compensation to the families who’s land has been acquired by SIDCO at Industrial Growth Centre at Samba and Industrial Complex at Bari Brahmana and also by BSF at Panch Tilla Samba during 1999, relief and compensation to the landless families who are neither allotted any land not paid any relief/ cash-dole for which they are entitled like Kashmir migrants, allotment of residential plots to about 25 families, single member families who had agriculture background but have not been allotted any land for which they are entitled as per Cabinet order No. 578/C of 1954 and implementation of Revenue laws to the DPS of 1965 and 1971 at par with the DPs of 1947 of POK. The Divisional Commissioner assured the representatives of the J&K Refugees front 1971 that some of the demands have already acceded and the other demands would be looked into favourably.
