GDC Vijaypur, district police samba organize workshop

VIJAYPUR, Apr 28: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur, in collaboration with the District Police Samba, organized an interactive workshop on the theme "Drugs and Its Impact on Society" under the flagship initiative of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event was conducted under the able supervision of Dr. Ashu Vashist, Principal, GDC Vijaypur.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, Nodal Officer, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), GDC Vijaypur. He introduced the esteemed resource person for the session, Mr. Garu Ram, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Samba.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Garu Ram highlighted that drug abuse is not merely a personal issue but a serious social concern, affecting families, disrupting communities, and placing a heavy burden on healthcare and criminal justice systems. He emphasized the importance of prevention, early intervention, and active community support in combating the menace of substance abuse.
The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged students to share their views on the harmful effects of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society at large. They also proposed effective strategies for prevention and control, reflecting critically on the social, psychological, and health-related consequences of drug abuse.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal.
The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat and co-coordinated by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Arti Sharma, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Prof. Mitu Sharma, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, and Dr. Anjana Raina.
The workshop served as an important platform for spreading awareness among youth about the dangers of substance abuse and fostering a commitment towards building a drug-free society.
