| Militant, trooper killed in Baramulla encounter | | Four security men injured, arms recovered | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Apr 20- A militant and a CRPF trooper were killed and four others injured in an encounter at Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police sources said. Meanwhile, security forces recovered some arms and ammunition from a militant hideout in Panzla area while a former militant was shot dead in Tral area of Pulwama district. Reports reaching here said that troops from the 29 Rashtriya Rifles, 117 Battalion CRPF and SOG cordoned Trikolbal area of Pattan late last night following specific information about the presence of militants in the area. “The militants retaliated when troops encircled the house of Ghulam Mohammad Khanday in village Mandyari,” Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP Baramulla Vipul Kumar said. He said that the troops retaliated the fire and in the ensuing gun battle one militant was killed while as a CRPF trooper lost his life and four others sustained injuries. Police later identified the killed militant as Abdul Rashid Beigh son of Ghulam Mohammad Beigh resident of Gulestan Sumbal. Police also claimed to have recovered one AK-47, five magazines and a Pistol from the possession of killed militant. Police sources said that during the encounter a trooper of 117 Battalion CRPF got killed. The CRPF trooper has been identified as Amit Tyagi. Four security personnel including CRPF Sub-Inspector Bopal Singh Magendar, Constable Bano Partab Yadav and two SOG men identified as Kuldeep and Prabhat were also injured. Sources, however, maintained that two militants have managed to escape from the encounter site. Elsewhere, unidentified gunman fired upon Manzoor Ahmad Kolia (33) son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Chan Mohalla Tral near Khar Masjid Tral Zeeyarat Sharief, killing him on the spot. Police sources said that Manzoor a former militant had been released some years back. In another incident security forces recovered one IED, one AK 47 magazine, 14 AK 47 rounds, 11 detonators and one remote control at Federapora near a bridge, at Panzala Baramulla. The IED was later destroyed with out causing any harm.
