Multilingual Mushaira organized by JKAACL at Kaloyen

JAMMU, May 1: A multilingual Mushaira was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Talented Writers Forum, J&K today at Kaloyen, a border village near Suchetgarh, R S Pura. Senior writer, film maker Dr. Baljit Raina, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu presided over the programme whereas S. Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza of JKAACL and Sh. Harjit Singh Uppal, President, Punjabi Sahitak Sabha, R S Pura were present on the dais.
Prominent Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri poets of Jammu & Kashmir presented their poems in various genres, on different themes. The writers who presented their poetry included Suraj Parkash Rattan, Balwinder Singh Deep, Jang S. Verman, Jatinder Pal Singh, Dheeraj Kumar Raina, Gursharan Singh, Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, Harbhajan Singh Upasak, Harjit Singh Uppal and Bachan Bharti.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Baljit Singh Raina said that the high quality Ghazals were presented by the Ghazal writers, whereas the other poems had been rich in their themes and concepts based on individual viewpoints. He appreciated the efforts of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Talented Writers' Forum, J&K for organizing such events at remote and border areas.
Sh. Popinder Singh Paras also expressed his views on this occasion and said that the Academy is organizing many cultural, literary and art based programmes to enrich the rich heritage of the region. He emphasized that JKAAL has prepared a calendar of activities which will be followed in the coming months. He informed that there are many activities included in the calendar viz. organizing All India Mushaira, Seminars & Conferences, writers workshops, programmes for senior writers above the age of seventy one years, conduct of tours for writers and poets, introduction of subsidy for publications of books etc.
Earlier, Gursharan Singh from Talented Writers Forum, J&K, on behalf of JKAACL and his organization, formally welcomed the guests and the poets. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by S. Gursharan Singh, TWF-J&K. He also extended the Vote of thanks.
