Early Times Report REASI, May 2: In a continued drive against drug abuse in the region, Reasi Police made a significant arrest today. A patrolling team from Police Station Katra intercepted a suspect, Sunny Mehra, during a routine patrol at Searly, Katra. Mehra, a resident of Ward No. 10, Panthal, Tehsil Katra, was found in possession of 3.70 grams of heroin-like substance. The incident took place when Mehra was seen walking from Searly to Katra. Upon frisking, the police recovered the narcotic substance, which led to the registration of FIR No. 125/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Katra. Investigations are currently underway to uncover both the forward and backward linkages of the drug trafficking network. The operation was led by SHO P/S Katra, Inspector Khyatimamaan Khajuria, under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey (JKPS) and SP Katra, Sh. Vipan Chandran (JKPS). Paramvir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, shared details about the operation and reiterated the commitment of Reasi Police to create a drug-free society. He emphasized, "Reasi Police is employing a comprehensive strategy to tackle drug abuse and illicit liquor trade. Along with conducting awareness programs, we are taking strict legal action against drug peddlers, including invoking the PIT NDPS Act." The SSP also appealed to the public to report any information regarding drug trafficking, assuring that the identity of informers will remain confidential.
