| Religious teachings a potent tool to combat materialism: Mangat | | | JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 23 - "Religious teachings always paved the way for people to get rid of all social evils and this is right time to follow such sacred preaching when the whole universe is lurching in materialism and globalization" stated the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma at Jambo Lochan Hall late last evening. Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz was also present. The Minister was speaking at the concluding day of two-day convention organized by the Church of God, Evangelical Fellowship of J&K State. Addressing the gathering, the Minister made a fervent appeal to the people of every religions to come forward and join a common platform of love, tolerance and brotherhood to make our lives better. He said that every religions has its own significances which bring us out of the darkness of violent and inhumane activities. Later, the functionaries of the Church of God apprised the Minister about their different activities meant for the socio-economic empowerment of unprivileged sections of the society. Mr. Sharma assured the complete cooperation to this agencies to meet their mission. On the occasion, a colourful cultural bonanza was also staged by the budding artists of the state. Among others Mr. Manoj Lakhanpal, Parcharkar from Delhi and others were also present on the occasion. |
