Ajaz Jan urges India, Pakistan Nuclear Nations to prioritize civilian safety, avoid escalation | | | Early Times Report POONCH, May 4: A significant workers' meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) was convened today at the Dak Bungalow in Poonch, chaired by Hon'ble MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan. The gathering witnessed the participation of prominent senior leaders and party workers from across the Haveli constituency. At the outset, the house strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and expressed solidarity with the families of the victims. During the meeting, workers raised several grassroots issues affecting their respective villages and blocks, including the acute shortage of doctors and ambulances. All present members appreciated Ajaz Jan for vocally raising the public's concerns in the Assembly without fear and for his continuous efforts in highlighting the issues of the Haveli constituency. The members also congratulated him on the successful completion of his Umrah pilgrimage. Speaking on the current situation along the border areas, Mr. Jan expressed serious concern, stating that the conditions resemble a war-like atmosphere. He emphasized that war is not the solution to existing problems. However, if the Government of India is considering such a course, it must be fully prepared - including arrangements for medical care, food, water, and secure shelters such as bunkers. He stressed the need to make contingency plans for the safety of women and children. Mr. Jan stated, "Both nations, being nuclear powers, must take full responsibility for the protection of all their citizens and ensure that tensions do not escalate to the point where innocent lives are put at risk." He acknowledged the unwavering support of the people of Poonch, who have always stood with the Indian Army and contributed selflessly during times of national need. He urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure the safety of children, laborers, and workers across the country by directing concerned states and their police departments to take proactive measures. In a major organizational move, Ajaz Jan announced the formation of special committees for Blocks Poonch, Nangali Sahib, Mandi, Sathra, and Loran. These committees will assist the public and security forces in the event of any emergency and maintain coordination with district administration and police authorities.
