Bhaderwah, Apr 21-Exhorting the people to teach a lesson to the ruling coalition for its failure to fulfill promises made with the common masses during the assembly elections, president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti today said that four month period of the this new dispensation is a clear indication that Congress-National Conference has failed on all fronts.
Addressing series of public meetings at Bela and Bhadewah areas to wind up her tour in this mountainous belt in support of party candidates Sheikh Mujib Ali for Bhaderwah assembly seat and Balbir Singh for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Mehbooba said that the last four months functioning of this dispensation is appearing only on papers as at grassroots level not even a single promise has been so far implemented’. She reminded the gatherings that during campaign of the assembly elections, National Conference had made a number of promises with the people but these promises are yet not translated into reality.
“What to say to fulfill the promises, Congress-National Conference regime has further compounded woes of the masses due to its casual approach”, she said and lambasted the ruling party for playing with the emotions of the people to garner political support.
“We will not remain a mute spectator to the misdeeds of the government”, she asserted and reiterated her resolve to make PDP a voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We have enough strengthen in the assembly to keep a check on the anti-people steps of the government”, she said, adding, “just to grab the power, National Conference and Congress has entered into an alliance without forming Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and without evolving consensus on vital issues”.
“We have given enough time to this regime to perform”, she said and reminded the NC leaders about their promises of giving stipend to educated unemployed youth, subsidized ration, curtailing of education for recruitment in police etc. “All these promises remained only on papers”, she said and called the people to compare performance of his three year tenure with the decades long mis-governance of successive National Conference led regimes.
PDP chief further stated that ruling National Conference has been spreading rumours about presence of female militants to create terror among the people. “As boycott suits NC so this party has been spreading rumours. Earlier they were spreading rumours about infiltration of Taliban and now they have been stating that female militants have been active in the State”, she said.
PDP chief expressed her anguish over character assassination of those females who were killed in encounter with security forces. “On humanitarian ground authorities should not indulged in such inhuman acts”, she said.
