Two drug peddlers/habitual offenders booked

REASI, May 10: In continuation of its ongoing campaign "Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh" against the menace of drug abuse, District Police Reasi has achieved a significant success by apprehending two notorious drug peddlers/habitual offenders and securing punitive action against them.
Under the able guidance and supervision of Paramvir Singh, JKPS, Sr. Superintendent of Police, Reasi, teams of Police Station Reasi conducted raids at various identified hotspots in Reasi Town on May 9 and apprehended two suspects involved in drug peddling activities. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abid Wazir @ Aadu, S/O Nazir Mohd, R/O Ward No. 10, Reasi and Vikram Singh @ Sahil S/O Sunder Singh, R/O Trintha, Reasi.
Both accused are known habitual offenders with a history of involvement in drug peddling and were continuously active in supplying drugs to the youth of Reasi. Preventive action under sections 129/170 of the BNSS was initiated against them.
The accused were produced before the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (JMIC), Reasi, today, who imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on each as a deterrent against their habitual criminal behavior.
Sharing details of the operation, SSP Reasi reiterated the firm resolve of Reasi Police to continue its dual approach-taking punitive as well as preventive action against those indulging in the drug trade. He emphasized that such measures are crucial to safeguard the youth and secure the future of society.
He further stated, "District Police Reasi will leave no stone unturned in its fight against drug peddling. More such operations will be carried out in the coming days to eradicate this menace from its roots."
District Police Reasi appeals to the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers or suspicious activity in their localities. Together, let us join hands to build a drug-free Reasi.
