Kathua police attach property worth Rs 19 lakh of notorious drug peddler

KATHUA, May 14: J&K Police Kathua today attached one property worth approx Rs. 19 Lakh (i.e land measuring 1 kanal and 11.5 Marla) belonging to one drug peddler namely Zorawar Singh @Kaka S/o Baldev Singh R/o Dhanore Tehsil & District Kathua under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).
The land was identified as an illegally acquired land, during the course of the investigation and inquiry conducted by SHO PS Lakhanpur Insp. Tribhawan Khajuria under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak JKPS & DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Ritesh Sambyal and overall supervision of *SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena -IPS in presence of Executive Magistrate Kathua, Ex Sarpanch Halqa Karroh seized the immovable property (Land measuring 1 Kanal and 11.5 Marla) of the Drug Peddler namely:- Zorawar Singh @kaka S/o Baldev Singh R/o Dhanore Tehsil & District Kathua whose value is approx.19 Lacs. As during investigation, it surfaced that the said land which he has been acquired is as a result of proceeds of Narcotics.
As the property was, prima facie, acquired by the owner from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In addition, the said person was also involved in case FIR No.s. 30/2016, 49/2017 and 50/2023 U/S NDPS Act registered at PS Lakhanpur and today said property was seized U/S 68(E), 68(F) of NDPS Act 1985.
Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of the Kathua police with regard to the attachment of immoveable property that has been raised or used for illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Kathua district.
