Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, Chairman of SCJS and President of Vichar Kranti Manch International, delivered a detailed and insightful address on Mother’s Day. He spoke about its origins, global observance, cultural relevance, and its emotional and societal impact. He highlighted: The Celebration: Mother’s Day is observed globally, including in India, on the second Sunday of May — falling this year on 11th May. Origins: Initiated in 1908 in the U.S. by Anna Jarvis and declared a holiday in 1914. Significance: A day to honor unconditional maternal love, sacrifice, and the central role mothers play in families and society. Dr. Jain emphasized the importance of expressing appreciation through gestures such as flowers, handmade gifts, prayers, and family time. He reflected on how this day reinforces values of gratitude, strengthens emotional bonds, and brings joy and mental well-being to mothers. Shifting the focus to Buddha Purnima, Dr. Jain also delivered an illuminating talk on the life, philosophy, and teachings of Lord Gautama Buddha. He explained that Buddha Purnima commemorates three major events in Buddha’s life—his birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana—all believed to have occurred on the full moon day of Vaishakha. |
