| Anganwadi workers stage protest demonstration; demand regularization | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 22- Braving intense heat hundreds of Anganwadi workers Wednesday gathered outside Press club in Jammu to stage protest demonstration against the indifferent attitude of the state government towards their long pending demands. Led by one of the prominent trade union leader Abdul Gaffor Dar hundreds of Anganwadi workers shouted slogans in support of their demands such as regularization of services, settling pay anomalies, hike in daily wages etc. Alleging that state government was not coming forward to address their grievances large number of Anganwadi workers threatened to bring their children to join the protest demonstrations in case the state government failed to grant justice. We are struggling for past so many years to raise our voice but neither any state minister nor state government officer paid any attention towards our demands. Threatening o intensify their stir the Anganwadi workers also cautioned the state government against unwarranted delay and urged the senior government functionaries to take a humanitarian view before discussing their demands. It has almost become impossible for us to survive on meager salary of Rs 1300 per month, Anganwadi workers said shouting slogans against the state government. Abdul Gaffor Dar said that as per the agreement reached between the state government and the striking employee’s union leaders the issue of PSU employees and regularization of daily wage employees employed since 1994 has not been addressed. He said the state government should formulate a comprehensive regularization policy to settle disputes.
