Jammu police foil bovine smuggling bid, rescue 12 cattle | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 15: In a continuing crackdown on illegal cattle transportation under Operation Kamdhenu, the Jammu Police successfully foiled a major bovine smuggling attempt in the Nagrota Sub-Division. Acting on reliable information, a team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14D/6067 and rescued 12 bovines that were being smuggled. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee the spot, but the police successfully seized the vehicle. In connection with the incident, FIR No. 66/2025 under sections 223/11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the culprits involved. The operation has drawn appreciation from the general public, who have commended the Jammu Police for their firm and consistent action against bovine smugglers, ensuring the enforcement of law and protection of animals. |
