UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 23 )- Arrangements to celebrate Dushehra festvial were discussed at a joint meeting of District Officers and members of Dushehra celebration committee, Udhampur today. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. B.M. Sharma chaired the meeting.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Udhampur, Tehsildar, Settlement, President of Dushehra celebration committee, Mr. Ved Prakash, Ram Nand Baria, Mr.Tilak Raj Khjauria and officer of Municipality, Fire Services, PHE and PDD participated in the meeting.
The meeting decided Sports Stadium, Udhampur as venue of celebrating the Dushehra festival on October 2, 2006.
The arrangements like Barricading, seating, drinking water and power supply, first-aid, sanitation, traffic and security were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that the Municipal authorities would make adequate arrangements of sanitation and lights at the site of function in coordination with Electric Department. The Public Health Engineering Department would ensure Barricading and drinking water supply and Health Department to ambulances at the site of function and also with the procession carrying the Jhankies of Lord Rama.
The SSP Udhampur would deploy adequate police personnel on the day of festival in the bazaar as well as at main function site and the Traffic Police to regulate traffic flow and remove the stranded vehicles enroute Jhanki procession. Fire Services Department would also deploy Fire tender at the site of function to meet any eventuality.
It may be recalled that as per the past practice, the Jhankies of Lord Rama, Laxamna, Sita with Hanumana would start from Chowk Chabutra, Udhampur at 2 p.m. on October 2, 2006 and after passing through main bazaar, Gole market, Mukerjee Bazar, Slathia Chowk and Barrian Mohallah would finally culminate at Sports Stadium situated in Mohallah Subash Nagar, Udhampur in the evening. |
