Unauthorised pony porter booked on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi track, FIR registered | | | Early Times Report REASI, May 16: In a continuing drive to ensure the safety, security, and proper regulation of activities on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track, District Police Reasi booked an unauthorized individual posing as a pony porter during routine patrolling at Ban Ganga Bridge near Geeta Mandir. At around 2100 hours, patrolling police personnel intercepted a person acting as a Pithu (porter) and asked him to present his license or authorization card. The individual identified himself as Mohd Rafiq S/O Noor Jamal R/O Danga Kote, District Reasi. Upon further inquiry, he failed to produce a valid registered service card required for pony operators. He admitted that he did not possess any authorized credentials and assumed he could operate undetected. His actions constitute a clear violation of SDM orders regulating service providers on the holy track. In this regard, an FIR No. 138/2025 U/S 223(a) BNS has been registered at Police Station Katra, and a thorough investigation is underway. The whole operation led by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran-JKPS. District Police Reasi remains committed to upholding the sanctity and orderly conduct of all activities along the SMVD track. Regular patrolling, checking, and verification drives will continue to detect and prevent unauthorized operations. The Reasi Police appeals to all service providers to carry valid authorization at all times and urges pilgrims and locals to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police personnel in the interest of public safety and pilgrimage sanctity. |
