Jammu, May 17: In a heartwarming celebration of traditional values and teacher-student reverence, Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Shivalik Branch, successfully organized the “Guru Bandhan Chhatra Abhinandan” (GBCA) program at Tiny Tots Higher Secondary Public School, Sainik Colony, Jammu. The event, held during the school’s morning assembly, commenced at 8:00 AM and drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and BVP dignitaries. The distinguished gathering included BVP President Sh. Ashok Khajuria, Secretary Sh. Rakesh Sharma, Advisors Sh. Hriday Chander Vaid and Sh. Ashok Gupta, Treasurer Sh. Vivek Mahajan, Pramukh Sanskar Smt. Vandana Maini, Pramukh Mahila Sahbhagita Smt. Raj Kumari Vats, and Pramukh Sampark Smt. Anju Bansal. Representing the host school were Director Sh. Vikram Handa, the Principal, teachers, and over 200 students. The program began on a patriotic note with the singing of Vande Mataram, followed by the traditional Deep Prajvalan (lamp lighting). Secretary Sh. Rakesh Sharma extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the BVP executive team and school dignitaries. In his keynote address, President Sh. Ashok Khajuria highlighted the significance of the GBCA initiative, which aims to foster a deep bond of respect and affection between teachers and students while promoting India’s cultural heritage. Advisor Sh. Ashok Gupta further elaborated on the mission and philanthropic work of Bharat Vikas Parishad. The heart of the ceremony featured the symbolic act of respect where two students (one boy and one girl) from each class, from Grade 1 to 12, honored their respective class teachers with flower garlands. In return, the teachers showered petals and blessings on the students—an emotional and meaningful exchange symbolizing mutual respect and admiration. Smt. Vandana Maini led a collective oath for a Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India), encouraging students and staff to adopt and promote a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle. She also shared practical steps for staying away from substance abuse. Advisor Sh. H.C. Vaid provided motivational career and life guidance, urging students to pursue success with honesty, focus, and perseverance. The program concluded with a stirring address by School Director Sh. Vikram Handa, who drew inspiration from the teachings of great Indian saints, encouraging students to embody excellence in character and academics. The entire event was seamlessly coordinated and compered by Sh. Rakesh Sharma, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Treasurer Sh. Vivek Mahajan. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, bringing the celebration to a dignified close. |
