Jammu, May 16: In a major crackdown under Operation Kamdhenu, Nagrota Police successfully thwarted three separate bovine smuggling bids, rescuing 42 animals and seizing three vehicles involved in illegal transport across the sub-division. Acting on specific intelligence, police teams intercepted three trucks carrying bovines: •Truck No. JK02AS/5945 with 10 bovines •Truck No. JK02AL/4867 with 11 bovines • Truck No. JK19A/1197 with 21 bovines, driven by Mohd Ashraf, son of Ghulam Nabi from Chaknawa, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban, who was arrested on the spot. The operation reflects the police’s continued commitment to curbing bovine smuggling and enforcing the law strictly. FIRs numbered 98/2025, 99/2025, and 100/2025 have been registered under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act at Police Station Nagrota.
