5/17/2025 10:22:50 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 17: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) proudly marks World Telecommunication Day , reaffirming its commitment to bridging the digital divide and driving technological innovation for sustainable development.
The 2025 WTISD theme, “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development,” highlights how 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing can address global challenges such as climate change, inequality, poverty, education, and healthcare.
BSNL has been at the forefront of extending internet penetration to hilly, border, and remote areas in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, installing mobile towers at 509 locations out of 1,180 identified sites under the 4G saturation project of the Government of India . These efforts ensure connectivity in critical regions, including Siachen, Galwan, and Demchok, enhancing disaster management, healthcare access, and administrative efficiency.
BSNL’s Commitment to Indigenous Technology
BSNL exclusively relies on Indian technology in partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tejas Networks, and the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), reinforcing cyber security and national technological independence.
The company remains dedicated to equipping all towers with 4G connectivity by June 2025 and has already upgraded 90% of its existing towers. Next, BSNL will transition to 5G technology, ensuring high-speed, reliable, and secure connectivity. Additionally, six new towers have been installed along the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route, improving connectivity for pilgrims.
BSNL continues to drive India’s digital revolution, ensuring no citizen is left behind.
