Poonch, May 18: In a heartfelt expression of gratitude and admiration, residents of the border areas of Poonch have come forward to pay tribute to former MLA Ajaz Jan for his unwavering support and courageous leadership during times of conflict and cross-border tension. During some of the most difficult moments faced by the border population, when fear and uncertainty gripped the region, Ajaz Jan stood firmly with his people. Locals recount how he prioritized the safety and welfare of his constituency over his personal well-being, visiting shelling-hit villages and extending a helping hand when it was needed most. Zyda Begum, a resident of Dara Dullyan—one of the many villages that bear the brunt of cross-border shelling—spoke on behalf of many: “We have seen with our own eyes how Ajaz Jan risked his life to help the people. He came to the borders, he heard our cries, and he acted. That is true leadership. That is what we will never forget.” Such testimonies from the ground highlight the deep bond and trust shared between Jan and the people of Poonch. Residents continue to stand by him, acknowledging his sacrifices and expressing hope for his continued success. “We pray that Allah continues to bless him with strength and success,” said another local, reflecting the widespread affection and respect Jan commands in the region. The voice of the people remains clear: in moments of crisis, true leaders emerge—not from behind podiums, but from among the people, standing shoulder to shoulder with them. |
