Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 19: In a successful operation against illegal bovine smuggling, the District Police Udhampur foiled an attempt to transport 11 bovines cruelly tied inside a vehicle at Tikri Naka point. The vehicle, bearing registration number JK19A-4841, was stopped by a police team from Police Post Tikri during routine vehicle checking duty. The accused driver, identified as Pervaiz Ahmed S/O Abdul Qayoom from Barhog, Dharamkund, Ramban, was arrested on the spot. All 11 bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer location to ensure their well-being. A case has been registered under FIR No. 68/2025 at Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of the law. Investigation into the case is currently ongoing. The police have reiterated their commitment to curbing bovine smuggling and protecting animal welfare in the region. |
