| DC Poonch reviews functioning of Social Welfare Department | | |  Early Times Report
POONCH, May 19: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to take a comprehensive review of the working of the Social Welfare Department.
He assessed the implementation of different welfare schemes in the district. He stressed the importance of delivering the benefits of government schemes to the last eligible beneficiary and ensuring full transparency in operations.
Stress was laid on effective implementation of all social welfare schemes, with a special focus on achieving saturation in pension coverage across all eligible categories, including old age, widow, and disability pensions. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that no eligible beneficiary should be left out and instructed the department to expedite the process of identifying and enrolling pending cases.
To strengthen outreach and improve public awareness, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the department to organise camps at the village level. These camps will serve as a platform for on the spot registration, grievance redressal, and dissemination of information regarding welfare schemes and entitlements.
