Early Times Report RS PURA, May 20: In a commendable initiative aimed at fostering environmental awareness and enhancing the visual appeal of the campus, the NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC) R.S. Pura organized an Ornamental Plants Plantation Drive within the college premises. Held under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, Principal of GDC RS Pura, the drive focused on promoting ecological balance and nurturing eco-conscious values among students. Dr. Kour emphasized the critical role academic institutions play in supporting green initiatives, stating, "Creating a green and serene environment not only benefits the ecosystem but also contributes to the overall well-being of students and staff." Students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff participated with enthusiasm, planting a variety of ornamental species to beautify the surroundings and instill a sense of environmental responsibility. Dr. Chanchal Angral, NSS Program Officer, remarked, "This plantation drive is a part of our broader commitment to sustainability and student engagement in eco-friendly practices." The event underscored the college's commitment to integrating green practices with campus life and student development. Faculty members who actively took part in the initiative included Dr. Shivani Manchanda, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, and Dr. Savleen Kour, all of whom supported the cause wholeheartedly.
