Jammu police detain six vehicles in rural zone

JAMMU, May 20: In a significant move to curb illegal mining activities and safeguard public resources, Jammu Police have launched a rigorous campaign across the Rural Zone of District Jammu. As part of this ongoing drive, six vehicles involved in unauthorized mining operations have been detained over the past few days.
The crackdown, conducted at various locations, highlights the proactive approach adopted by Jammu Police in collaboration with the Mining Department to tackle the growing menace of illegal extraction of minerals.
Details of the Seizures:
Police Station Akhnoor detained two tractor-trolleys:
Tractor with Engine No. 480200DX and Chassis No. NHN36020ZSC729318, loaded with sand.
Tractor with Engine No. 31021L44L1515249F5 and Chassis No. BZGDL1535802S3, loaded with bazri (crushed stone).
Both vehicles were operating without the mandatory Form A.
Police Station Kanachak detained two tippers:
Tipper bearing registration number JK02BB/0343.
Tipper bearing registration number JK02CA/6267.
Both were found transporting sand illegally and lacked the requisite Form A documentation.
Police Station Gharota seized one dumper:
Dumper with registration number JK02CC/9957, carrying clay without Form A.
Police Post Sidhra detained one dumper:
Dumper bearing registration number JK19A/5333, found loaded with sand and also lacking the necessary legal clearance.
All detained vehicles were reported to the District Mining Officer for further legal proceedings under the prevailing mining laws.
A senior police official stated, "Jammu Police is firmly committed to protecting public property and cracking down on illegal mining, which not only harms the environment but also results in huge revenue losses to the government."
Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious mining activity to the nearest police station and assured continued surveillance and strict enforcement in the region.
