JAMMU, May 20: As part of its ongoing public outreach and youth engagement drive, Jammu and Kashmir Police organized an impactful motivational lecture at MAM College, Jammu. SP South, Shri Ajay Sharma (JKPS), addressed students and faculty on key societal issues including drug abuse prevention, the importance of character development, and awareness of India's newly introduced criminal laws.
During the session, SP Sharma raised concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse among youth. He sensitized students to the psychological, social, and legal consequences of substance abuse, urging them to resist peer pressure and support a drug-free environment both on campus and beyond. He also stressed the critical role of character building, encouraging students to cultivate strong moral values, emotional strength, and social responsibility. "Academic success is important, but integrity, discipline, and empathy are what truly define a person," he emphasized.
In a detailed explanation of the new criminal codes - Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) - SP South informed students about the reforms aimed at streamlining justice delivery and protecting victims' rights. He highlighted key changes and their implications for public safety and civic awareness.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A round, where students asked insightful questions and appreciated the valuable insights provided by SP Sharma.
