Leh, May 20: The Administrative Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, Shashanka Ala chaired a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Leh, to assess the progress of Girls’ Hostels and Working Women’s Hostels being executed by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). The Executive Director of NHIDCL provided an overview of the progress on the ongoing 300-bedded hostel projects. During the meeting, the Secretary reviewed the status of ongoing and proposed hostel projects. She emphasized the importance of timely execution to ensure improved access to education and employment opportunities for women, particularly those from remote and underserved areas. The Secretary directed concerned officials to resolve pending issues on priority and to expedite administrative and technical processes to avoid delays. The meeting also addressed matters related to the provision of water supply and electricity connections for Old Age Homes, as well as the electricity supply for Anganwadi Centres. The meeting was attended by the Director, Social & Tribal Welfare Department; Chief Engineer, PWD Ladakh; Chief Engineer, CPWD Ladakh; Executive Director, NHIDCL; Assistant Director, Planning; and Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD, and Rural Engineering Wing. |
